Fall Bucket List

Fall Bucket List

I’m going to jump on the bandwagon today and talk about fall, and all those wonderful fall activities that we always look forward to. But, instead of only the usual fall bucket list items, I’m going to add our own little rural twist to it. I know that getting a pumpkin spice latte (or my personal favorite, a Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice) is a fall necessity, but I’m going to say it’s not “bucket list worthy” today. What is going to make our fall bucket list, is a tractor hayride, nature walks, and a country style picnic to name a few.

I saw a quote the other day, “Autumn is the season to find contentment at home, by paying attention to what we already have.” I thought it was perfect for this season, as the weather gets colder, we tend to curl up inside with a blanket and therefore spend more time enjoying the little things (like a good cup of coffee and cuddles with our babies!). Although there’s a part of me that knows winter is coming, watching the leaves turn beautiful colors and getting to spend time with family makes me forget all about the looming cold weather! Plus, I get to look forward to Thanksgiving, which is one of my absolute favorite holidays! I especially look forward to the years when mine or my husband’s family is all together. I always feel a sense of calming and warmth when we gather together, which could be partly due to the warm spices of the pumpkin pie and the wine 😉

Alright, here is my Fall Bucket List to make the most of this wonderful time of year!

  1. Throw an Oktoberfest dinner party (traditional with wurst, schnitzel, and spetzel)
  2. Enjoy a fall beer (pumpkin spice shandy, an Oktoberfest ale, etc.)
  3. Have a bonfire (complete with roasted marshmallows…s’mores anyone?!)
  4. Go on a nature walk/hike
  5. Make Apple cider (from scratch)
  6. Bake some delicious fall desserts (pies, bread, cookies…) to share with the neighbors
  7. Throw a flannel party
  8. Find a new fall scented candle
  9. Have a fall photo shoot
  10. Play in a pile of leaves
  11. Make a new craft for your home
  12. Make your own Halloween costume
  13. Celebrate Halloween (of course!)
  14. Ride in a Tractor, Combine, or on a hayride
  15. Carve pumpkins
  16. Try canning fruits or vegetables
  17. Enjoy some hearty chili
  18. Write “thank you” or “thinking of you” cards to someone special
  19. Have a fall picnic (complete with hot apple cider, your favorite cheeses, & smoked/cured meats) bonus points if it’s in the bed of a pickup or on a bale of hay
  20. Play paint ball in the woods
  21. Make a scarecrow
  22. Go on a fall scavenger hunt

I hope you all have a wonderful fall…I am loving the beautiful leaves and so is LB. Time to go check off a few more things!
